CHARITY EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
AS WE PROGRESS THROUGH THE EARLY YEAR CALENDAR, WE MOVE CLOSER TO THE NEXT YEAR'S DONATIONS.
We will be once again donating $2000 to the Forsyth Technical Community College's Electrical Lineman program for the next 4 scholarships, donating $2000 to Grays Chapel Elementary School for the CRAYONS FROM COLBY program, and we will be creating the Colby Haithcock Scholarship at Providence Grove High School for the academic year 2019-2020, Colby's graduating class year.
To make these donations, Tracey and I work hard, along with the help of very gracious and helpful friends, to raise the money needed to continue this.
We have a couple events still in progress and seek further contributions and participation.
ABC'S OF HOPE AND COLBY HAITHCOCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
We have partnered with ABC's of Hope, a charity created by Brian and Leslie Wells to provide spiritual and pastoral counseling to families like ours, families that have lost children to accidents etc.
Together, we are hosting the tournament at Tot Hill Farm Golf Course ( 3185 Tot Hill Farm Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205 ) on June 15 at 12 noon.
We have received many donations for Hole Sponsorship ($75 per GREEN or TEE BOX) but still need more sponsors. We also need to start filling the teams roster. The tournament can't go on without players. team registration is $240 through May 15, $300 thereafter.
We are also seeking food donations, drink donations etc to help with the food sales that we will be cooking for at the event. Prizes are also needed as gifts to the winners (and losers) as we will present prizes to the Best individual and team, as well as worst individual and team for the FRONT 9, BACK 9, and overall.

Another opportunity we have mentioned before is the Gun Raffle and food sale we will be holding at CAROLINA GUNS AND GEAR
on June 1st.
There will be 2 winners drawn. The first drawn will get choice between the AR-15 (.223/.556) or Glock 19 (9MM) with the second drawn winner receiving the other gun not chosen.
Tickets can be picked up at Carolina Guns and Gear, Treasure World, East Coast Surplus and Guns (All in Asheboro), Southern Boys Guns (Randleman), or by contacting me to arrange meeting up to get tickets. There are many tickets remaining and we are hoping to sell all 500 tickets.

Both books, KEEP SILENT SERVICE and LETHAL INTENTIONS are available on Amazon in electronic and paperback editions. All royalty money received from the sales goes directly to the scholarship fund. We've raised over $300 for the charity through these book sales. While not a best seller, we're selling books and adding to the scholarship.

I totally enjoyed this book. Having served on Missile Submarines in the late sixties, I immediately identified with the premise, “would a crew fire missile when ordered”. I thought at first when the Russian Navy entered the picture, I knew what the outcome was going to be. I was presently surprised that I was wrong. A great read! Could put the book down!! Finished it in two reads, the last ending at 2 AM.

Well done and a good read. A long time ago I earned gold dolphins on a Fast attack boat and the story brought back a lot of great memories of boat and crew. There were some minor editing issues but they didn’t impact the readability.

I enjoyed this submarine adventure. With 22 years in Atlantic submarine force I enjoy these submarine stories. They tend to bring back memories. I do like the short chapters that make it easy to put the book down at chapter end for sleep, eating, etc. I think I'll be ready for book 3 when it comes out.
